Now when I work with HTML and CSS, I don’t see it as just code. I see it as a form of art.
There are many ways of placing elements in a page by using HTML & CSS, and these many ways become a form of art when you place them creatively while keeping standards. To do this though, it can be tricky. There are many variables that you have to be aware of. Cross browser compatibility, user monitors and user settings in their computer are just some of them. This is when you work towards creating your masterpiece. When you design a mockup in Photoshop, that is your idea of your masterpiece. When you put that concept on the web, it becomes closer to that masterpiece, and when that concept on the web has been placed across every computer on the World Wide Web, and looks the same across every platform, your idea has been realized. Now that is art.
It may not always happen as you want it to, but hey if everything went exactly the way we wanted it to all the time, we wouldn’t need to be creative. We wouldn’t need to tap into that very part of our brain that allows us to come up with solutions. We would be BORING. So sometimes we need to sacrifice some browsers (i.e. Internet Explorer 6) in order to accomplish our biggest piece of art for the remaining masses on the web.
Now that I have discussed the science behind the art, I will begin working toward launching the application of the art behind the science. I am beginning to do the tutorials, that will share my techniques with you. I love working from Photoshop into HTML and want to share how I do this with all of you. So keep an eye out for my weekly tutorials.
